Ambassador Viswanathan has undergone bypass surgery on 18 january and will be working from home until mid February. Sajeev Babu, Counsellor, is in charge of the embassy.

Argentine football player, Hernan Crespo has been acquired by Barasat club of India for US $ 840.000

India is starting a new Premier League starting with five clubs who have recruited international players. Crespo is the highest-paid foreign player recruited so far.

Argentine government imposes more stringent restrctions on imports from 1 February 2012

As part of the strategy to reduce outflow of foreign exchange and to encourage domestic production, the government has imposed these brutal measures in addition to the already existing restrictions since 2010. Imports can be done only after approval from authorities who could deny authorisation or reduce quantity of imports. The system is non-transparent and arbitrary.

Business Visa for 5 years with multientry....free of cost.

Under the visa Agreement signed on 14 october 2009 during the visit of President of Argentina to Delhi (Visa agreement signed in the form of exchange of letters between Foreign Ministers of Argentina and India) it has been agreed to grant five year multientry business visas free of cost. Stay during each visit is 90 days.

Advisory to the Indians who apply for Argentine Business visa

Despite the Agreement, visa officers in some Argentine embassies and Consulates issue just three months visas. The Indian Business visa applicants from reputed companies who make frequent visits should show the copy of the Agreent and insist on a five year visa.

In some cases they will ask for a original invitation by an Argentine client attested by notary and immigration department. According to their visa regulation, you need this original invitation only if an Argentine client takes the initiative to invite you. If you come on your own to explore the market or do business, the invitation is not required. Pl bring this to the attention of the visa officers.

In some cases,the embassy in delhi tells the business visa applicants that the Argentine client which invites you need to be registered with the Immgiration Authorities. Client registration is not needed for regular business visitors who come here to explore or do business. It is needed only for technicians or consultants who get paid for their work with Argentinian companies.
