Workshop on ¨Jobs, training and personal growth with Indian companies¨ at UTN - 21 June

Dr Mohan Kohli was awarded Honorary Doctorate by the University of San Carlos, Paraguay- 18 May

Dr Kohli has contributed to the development of new varieties of wheat in Paragauay in the last three decades. He lives in Asuncion and continues to provide consultancy to Paraguayan agricultural development. He has been working in Latin America for the last 39 years. Ambassador Viswanathan attended the ceremony and gave a speech.

Minister Scindia visited Montevideo on 2 May and Buenos Aires 3-7 May.

Inaguration of pharma plant of Glenmark on 3 May in Buenos Aires

Minister Scindia inaugurated the new plant of Glenmark on 3 May along with the Argentine Minister of Industry, Mrs. Debora Giorgi. This plant in which Glenmark has invested 30 million US dollars will be the global centre of production of oncological products for the company.

Amb Viswanathan took up with Industries Minister Debora Giorgi problems faced in imports from India, 29 March

In his meeting with her on 29 March Amb Viswanathan requested the Minister for a mechanism to resolve issues of delay and denial of licenses for imports from India. The Minister has agreed that specific cases could be given by the embassy and the Ministry would consider them in a spirit of cooperation. Importers who have problems are requested to contact Marcelo, (011 4393-4217) commercial officer in the embassy.

Argentina goes to Bollywood and Bollywood comes to Argentina

Yes....The famous Argentine music director Gustavo Santaolalla, now based in Hollywood went to Mumbai to compose music for the Bollywood film Dhobi Ghat. The film, drected by Kiran Rao, was released in India on 21 January.

Dhobi Ghat was screened at the Argentine Pinamar Film Festival on 6 March 2011 and in Buenos Aires on 9 March.

Visit of Vice President of Uruguay Mr Danilo Astori to India 21-26 february 2011

Vice President of Uruguay Mr Danilo Astori will visit Delhi, Mumbai and Chennai. He will be accompanied by the Minister of Industry and Mines Mr Kreimerman , and a 50-member delegation which includes 28 businessmen. The delegation will meet Indian authorities and promote Indian investment in Uruguay.

Delegation will be in Mumbai 21-22 Feb, Chennai 22-23 feb and Delhi 24-25 Feb. In Delhi FICCI( on 24th) and CII ( on 25th) are organising business seminars and meetings

Tales of India Music, Drama and Dance shows 10 January to 14 February

The Ministry of Culture of the City Government of Buenos Aires and the Embassy of India presents this open air music, drama and dance shows in different parks of Buenos Aires during the summer. The famous actress Silvia Perez and the Indian classical dance teacher Natalia Salgado participate in this show.

The opening performance was on January 10th in Plaza Almagro and about 300 people from Almagro enjoyed the show!

Indian TV show produced in Argentina

A team of 28 Indian TV and film stars were in Buenos Aires to shoot the new TV Game Show ¨ Wipe Out ¨( Zor ka Jhakta ). The stars and a production crew of 20 Indians spent 40 days in Buenos Aires for the shooting till 17 January.
