Children´s team from Chennai win medals in the World Karate Championship 24-25 July 2010

The Indian children´s ( 9-17 years old) Karate team participated in the Third World Championship for Children, Cadets and Juniors on 24 – 25 July, 2010 in Buenos Aires.There were a total of 400 participants from 16 countries. The Indian team won 2 Gold and one Bronze medal in individual events and 3 Silver and 3 bronze medals in team events. S. Sharan and Jyothi Krithika were the Gold medal winners. The other team members were: Prasanna Kumar, Ganesh Ram and Mani Shankar. The winners of the team were invited to the embassy and felicitated by Shri R. Viswanathan, Ambassador of India, Buenos Aires. |

Maria Cecilia Amieva, lawyer from Cordoba has joined internship with Indian law firm
Maria Cecilia Amieva lawyer from Cordoba Argentina, have started internship training with Surana & Surana International Attorneys headquartered in Chennai, India from the 1st of July 2010 till March 2011. She is very excited about this training and is looking forward to learning about the Indian legal system, Indian culture and about doing business in India. She will foster contacts between Indian and Latin American law schools and law firms and will develop a short lecture series on the subject of “Legal and cultural aspects of doing business in India¨.

Hastinapur Foundation of Buenos Aires, publishes the Spanish version of Mahabharata

This is the first time that the full version of Mahabharata, the Indian epic, has been translated into Spanish. The translation in 639 pages was done by Mr Hugo Labate over a period of seven years. The book is available in bookstores in Buenos Aires. |
Godrej makes second aquisition in Argentina - June 2010
Godrej Consumer Products Ltd has acquired in the second week of June another Argentinian hair care company Argencos, making it the company's second buyout in Argentina in less than two weeks. Argencos has a manufacturing plant in La Rioja.
The company on May 23 had announced buying 100 per cent stake in the Issue Group, a market leader in hair-colour in Argentina, Peru, Uruguay and Paraguay.
The combined sales of the two Argentine companies would be over $45 million.
Godrej investing in Argentina - May 2010
Godrej has acquired the Argentine company Issue Group which is a leader in hair colour and other cosmetics business in Argentina. The turnover of the company is 35 million dollars which includes exports of 12 million dollars.
Besides Argentina, the Issue Group cosmetics have a presence in a number of Latin american countries. The Group has a manufacturing plant in Buenos Aires.
Kirloskar exploring possibilty of investment in pump manufacturing..
As part of their Latin America strategy Kirloskar is planning to put up an assembly plant in the region and Argentina is one of the options.
IFFCO is exploring possibility of setting up a urea plant in Argentina
IFFCO, the Gujrat- based fertiliser cooperative company is in talks with Americas Petrogas of Canada to set up a urea plant using gas produced in La Pampa region of Argentina.

A Senate delegation of five members lead by the President of the Senate visited New Delhi for meetings with their counterparts.

Parliamentary delegation from Uruguay visits India - 10 to 16 January
The visit is taking place at the invitation of the Indian Parliament. The delegation will exchange ideas and experience with Indian Parliamentarians. They will visit Chennai and Mumbai too.
