The seminar was held in Rosario and organised by the India- Argentina Chamber of Commerce with the provincial government of the state of Santa Fe. Various Government officials and Companies who have done and are doing business with India gave talks about the potential between the two countries. The seminar was attended by around 70 companies.

Second Festival of India in Buenos Aires 5- 15 November 2009
The Festival was successful and colourful. It attracted thousands of Argentines to the various events of the Festival. The auditorium for the seminars and dance programmes were full and overflowing and some could not get seats. The Borges centre looked like Chandni Chowk with waves of crowds pushing and jostling to buy at the handicrafts stalls.
The Festival activities included handicrafts exihibition, Indian classical and folk dances, seminars, film shows, foto exihibition, food festival, golf tournament and literary contest. The main events took place at the Borges Cutural Centre. Food Festival at Sheraton and Exihibtion at the Casa de Cultura of the City government of Buenos Aires.
Two Argentine golfers won the raffle of return airticket to India given by Air France.
Two more Argentines won the raffle of British Airways return ticket to India at the Borges Centre.

Five year multi entry visa ..... for Indian businessmen visiting Argentina... free of cost....can´t believe it... but true !
Under the visa Agreement signed on 14 october during the visit of President of Argentina to Delhi, the Argentine government has agreed to
grant five year multientry business visas ....and that too free of cost. Stay during each visit is 90 days extendable by another ninety days.
Fantastic... Let us thank the President and the Foreign Ministry of Argentina.

Argentine President´s visit to India 14-15 october
President Cristina Kirchner visited New Delhi on 14 oct. She was accompanied by her Foreign Minister, Minister of Planning, Minister of Production, Minister of Science and Technology and Governors of the provinces of San Juan and La Pampa. A 70-member business delegation also went with her. This was her first visit to an Asian Country.

Ambassador Viswanathan and Mr. Ramadorai, CEO of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) called on the Argentine President and discussed Indian investment and joint ventures in Argentina.

TCS inaugurated its new facility in Buenos Aires on 15 September
The new facility is located in the Patricios Park of Buenos Aires Technology Park. With more than 10,000 square meters, the company is expected to initially employ about 250 professionals at the center and has the capacity to expand to 1,400 employees.
The inaguration was done by CEO Ramadorai in the presence of Mauricio Macri Chief of Buenos Aires city government and Ambassador Viswanathan..

Olam International Limited, has acquired 14.35% stake in a dairy farming company NZFSU ( from NewZealand) for about 10 million dollars.

Mr. Rakesh Mohan gave a seminar at CARI - 26 august
The title was: "The global crisis from an Indian point of view"
Mr. Mohan is a professor at the Centre for International Development of Stanford University. Previously, he was Vicepresident of the Reserve Bank of India from 2005 to 2009. In 2004 he was named Secretary of the Departmen of Economical Affairs of the Ministry of Finance of India. Recently he published a book entitled: "Monetary Policy in a Globalized Economy: A Practitioner’s View” (Oxford University Press, 2009), on the evolution of finance, monetary policies and management of the financial sector.

Argentine-Indian coproduction of cartoon film
Illusion studio of Buenos Aires is working with ToonsIndia of Trivandrum to coproduce a 5 million dollar animated film ¨Gaturro¨. It is based on a famous cartoon character created by the Argentine cartoonist Nik. The film should be ready by 2010.

India’s exports to Argentina were 214 million USD as compared to 258 million in the same period last year (a decrease of around 17%).
Indian imports from Argentina were 569 million USD as compared to
743 million USD in the same period last year.
India-Uruguay Bilateral trade for January-September 2009
Indian exports to Uruguay were 28 million dollars (which is 12% decrease from 32 million dollars in the same period last year).
At the same time Indian imports to Uruguay were 7 million dollars, the same as last year.
India-Paraguay Bilateral trade for January-September 2009
Indian exports to Paraguay were around 35 million USD, same as last year.
Indian imports from Paraguay almost doubled in the same period reaching 18.5 million from 9.5 million dollars in 2008.
